Salzburg: Definition von:
Salzburg is the capital city of the same named province and it is, after Vienna, Graz and Linz the fourth biggest town in Austria.

Salzburg has with its from the UNESCO-World cultural heritage protected old town and with the area around Castle Hellbrunn a long cultural tradition. The inner city has gotten international publicity by the Salzburg Festival as well as being the birth town of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

The "Mozart-City Salzburg" on both sides of the river Salzach lies in the Salzburg valley, it was founded as a bishop's town on Roman ruins (Juvavum), got very rich by mining and trading of salt. Salzburg was the residential city of Archbishop Wolf Dietrich and his successors.

Today with its trading- and service companies, shopping centres as well as being a fair and congress town, Salzburg main income results from tourism.
